On February 24, 2022, we woke up as war correspondents.
It is incredibly difficult to report on human suffering — you constantly filter it through yourself, and it leaves its marks. The hardest stories, of course, are about children and the deaths of civilians. It's painful to look into the eyes of those who have lost a loved one, but anyone could be in their place if Russian aggression isn't stopped. The world must know the truth about Russia's strikes. Russian war crimes must not go unpunished.
This became one of the driving forces behind our work, despite the danger.
No one asked us if we wanted to write about a war — the war came to our doorstep, and we had no other choice. Back then, everyone did what they could for their country, and as journalists, we took on the mission to tell the truth to the world. Instead of writing about talented locals, I now write about the fallen. Hlukhiv (the city where the newsroom is located, Sumy region) is located 10 km from the Russian border — kindergartens, residential buildings, and hospitals are targets of the shelling.
